Jestli čekáte tu známou Arabellu s kouzelným prstenem, nenechte se mýlit, tahle vesmírná hrdinka sice žádné magické pomůcky nemá, ale zato rozumí technice a hlavně robotům. Začtěte se do příběhu z dob Jane Austinové, ve kterém si nejspíše všichni vzali LSD a věří, že na Marsu žijí Marťané a dokonce lidé, kteří ji kolonizovali.

Obsah knihy

Arabella je sice člověk, ale narodila se na Marsu. Její rodina je příkladem vzorné anglické rodiny, která je nejen velmi bohatá, ale také dost vzdálená své rodné zemi, bydlí totiž na Marsu. Když se Arabellina matka rozhodne, že je na čase, aby se z její dcery stala dáma, opouštějí rudou planetu a vracejí se zpět na Zem. Její otec, který se rozhodl na Marsu zůstat, zanedlouho po jejich odjezdu umírá. Této skutečnosti chce využít chamtivý bratranec, který se vydává na Mars a kvůli dědictví chce zabít jejího bratra. Arabella na nic nečeká a vydává se za ním, aby jej zastavila a hlavně, aby zažila to největší dobrodružství jejího života. Dokáže Arabella zachránit nejen svého bratra, ale celou svou rodinu?

Kniha je napsaná jednoduchým svižným jazykem, ještě než se pořádně začtete, už se ocitáte spolu s Arabellou na její nebezpečné výpravě. Měla jsem neustálý pocit, že jsme se nabourali do světa Pýchy a předsudku v paralelním vesmíru. Všude se řeší etiketa, správné chování dam ve společnosti a roboti. Znáte díl Červeného trpaslíka, kdy se posádka vydává do hry ve virtuální realitě právě s tématem Jane Austinové? A jejich hrdinný a uražený android či spíše mechanický kamarád se zbytek posádky pokusí osvobodit pomocí tanku z druhé světové. Tak přesně takhle na mě působí spojení nespojitelného. Ale ono to vážně funguje a kniha se čte opravdu jedním dechem.

V knize narazíte na romantiku, vesmírné plavby, piráty, krásného kapitána a dokonce i planetární revoluci. Arabella se mění, z malé holky se stává silná žena, která se svým důvtipem a moudrostí vyrovná všem mužům a mnohé dokonce předčí.
